The Wiregrass Children's Home has served more than 540 children in the last 17 years and with the help and commitment of the community, we hope we can continue to care for these children in the years to come. Please remember, it takes a whole community to raise a child. The feeding, clothing, and sheltering of these abused and neglected victims takes generosity and true Christian caring from people like you. Your tax deductible pledge of financial support will help start them back on the road to the dignity and self respect they need in healing the emotional and physical scars they all bring to the Wiregrass Children's Home. The home is licensed by the State of Alabama as an emergency shelter. The children who come to the home are referred by the State Department of Human Resources (DHR), yet the state provides less than 15 percent of our operating cost. Actually, we wouldn't have it any other way! This frees us to live and teach about the true answer to this growing epidemic, Jesus Christ. We provide care for children from the ages of 2 to 18 and are proud to say that our administrative expensives are well below the national average of other such charitable organizations. Our home depends on contributions from concerned citizens, area businesses, churches, and annual fundraisers. We are managed by a local board of directors comprised of area businessmen and women who volunteer their time and energy to manage the home and raise the funds needed for its operation.
