Needs & Dreams

Wiregrass Children's Home needs $16,500 per month to keep the home operating. We receive less than 15% of our operating costs from the State of Alabama. The rest comes from fundraisers, concerned citizens, businesses, organizations and area churches.

Our administrative expenses are well below the national average of other such charitable organizations. We are not affiliated with any one denomination but governed by a Board of Directors representating many denominations from the local area. Our board is comprised of area businessmen and women who volunteer their time and energy to raise the necessary funds needed for operating the Home.

The Wiregrass Children's Home welcomes the opportunity to share information about the Home and the work they do. They are always looking for individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to assist with a fundraiser or simply address envelopes for upcoming mailings.

Most of all, the Wiregrass Children's Home would like to say they appreciate the prayers that are being said for their children and house parents. These children need ALL of our help in order to make their future's brighter.

Examples you may consider when making a contribution to the Home:

$185.25 will feed 1 child for 1 month
$42.75 will feed 1 child for 1 week
$75.00 will buy school supplies for 1 child for a year
$45.00 will buy 1 school outfit for 1 teenage child

NEEDS LIST:

New socks and underwear of all sizes for boys and girls

New shoes of all sizes for boys and girls

Pajamas of all sizes for boys and girls

Unused deodorant, shampoo, and other hygiene products

Toilet paper

Paper towels

Laundry detergent

Waterproof twin pillow covers

Twin bedspreads

Twin sheet sets for older children

Beach towels

School supplies or gift cards to Walmart

Juice boxes for school snacks

Updated movies not rated higher than PG-13

Fishing poles

Baseball and softball gloves for all ages

Pool supplies or gift cards for pool supplies

Donated lawn service

Laptop computer

Vacuum cleaner in good working condition

Recreation gift certificates (Waterworld, Adventureland, or The Fun Zone)

Monetary donations are always needed for home improvement (new carpet, painting, plumbing expenses, etc...)
